By the grace of God our RMD LWML mission grant goal for the 2008-2010 biennium has been met! That’s right sisters; our mighty mites have raised $70,000 during the last two years to fund thirteen programs in places near and far. This good news makes me want to shout and sing!
1 Chronicles 16:23-26 says it very nicely. Look it up and meditate upon it for a minute and let it soak in as you consider all of the ramifications of fully funding our mission projects. Truly we proclaim his salvation day after day by providing:
>Materials for God’s Mission-Training Nationals in Cambodia Ablaze!
>Education for Evangelism/Outreach in Gambia, Africa
>Computers for Bible Translation-Lutheran Bible Translators
>Training Pastors in Kyrgyzstan
>Supporting the Ghana Seminary
>Christian Literature for China
And Psalm 103:1-11 may well be on the lips of these grant recipients:
>LCMS Southern District Recovery Assistance, Inc.
>Trinity/HOPE-Feeding Haitian Children
>Yearning Youth Yonder at LVR
>Lutheran Blind Mission Outreach Center, Denver, CO
>Orphan Grain Train, Colorado West Division
>Project Southern Africa-RMD-LCMS
>Lifting Up Human Care/Parish Nurse Programs, Immanuel, Loveland, CO
As we meet in Grand Junction, Colorado for our 2010 RMD LWML convention we’ll be considering new mission grants for the next biennium. Some of the programs we’ve funded these last two years may be considered for further funding and others may not. Please begin praying now for our delegates that they might find wisdom and guidance as they seek the Lord’s will when they cast their ballots.
And let’s not stop praying for all of these worthy mission programs that we’ve successfully supported these past two years. We pray for their continued success in their outreach, evangelism and training efforts. We pray that all who are served by these mighty mites will fulfill their mission of bringing Christ to the nations. And we echo Psalm 106:48 “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, Amen! Praise the Lord.”
Hymn #790 from the LSB expresses our elation over our mission being accomplished by the grace of God quite well, I think. Sing verses 1, 4 and 5 to close your devotion.
