April 2010 RMD LWML Website Devotion

My Redeemer Lives

Dear Lord,

Once again You have awakened the earth after the long sleep of winter.  As we look at the trees beginning to bud and the flowers beginning to burst forth in bloom, send Your Holy Spirit to “awaken” our hearts with the Good News of Easter that “Christ is Risen, He is Risen, indeed!”  With that joy and comfort in our hearts, embolden us to reach out to others with the message of salvation to those in our homes, neighborhoods, communities, and even the whole world.

In Jesus name we pray,

Amen

Join together to sing or read the lyrics to “I Know That My Redeemer Lives!” (TLH p. 200)

I know that my Redeemer lives;

What comfort this sweet sentence gives!

He lives, He lives, who once was dead; He lives, my everliving Head.

He lives triumphant from the grave,

He lives eternally to save,

He lives all-glorious in the sky,

He lives exalted there on high.

We come to the close of the 2008-2010 biennium.  As we do, we praise and thank the Lord for His many blessings to us.  Easter keeps the knowledge in front of us that He has given us all we have; He defeated and continues to comfort and defend us from the world, our flesh, and the devil.  We have shared that message of salvation, and the Lord has blessed our mites and prayers for our mission grant recipients!

He lives to bless me with His love,

He lives to plead for me above,

He lives my hungry soul to feed,

He lives to help in time of need.

He lives to grant me rich supply,

He lives to guide me with His eye,

He lives to comfort me when faint,

He lives to hear my soul’s complaint.

As Jesus continues to plead for us to our Heavenly Father, many others have come to know that Jesus is pleading to the Heavenly Father for them also.  Materials for God’s Mission-Training Nationals in Cambodia Ablaze!, LCMS Southern District Recovery Assistance, Inc. (RAI), Trinity/HOPE – Feeding Haitian Children, and Education for Evangelism/Outreach Gambia, South Africa have used our mites and prayers to share the Easter message that through Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection, all who believe in Jesus as their personal Savior have the assurance that He loves us always, is always in control, and is always with us to sustain and guide us throughout our life.

He lives to silence all my fears,

He lives to wipe away my tears,

He lives to calm my trouble heart,

He lives all blessings to impart.

He lives, my kind, wise heavenly Friend, He lives and loves me to the end;

He lives, and while He lives, I’ll sing; He lives my Prophet, Priest, and King.

The ravages of sin: fears, dangers, and catastrophes are constantly with us.  Without the sure knowledge that our Prophet, Priest, and King, Jesus, silenced the devil’s power over us, and through the soul cleansing blood of our Savior, we can sing in the “face” of the devil and temptation, we would have permanent reason to be afraid and troubled.  However, we have the blessed comfort of our Redeemer’s promise that He lives and  loves us forever, and He will come for us, personally, to take us to live with Him in Heaven.  With the help of our mites and prayers, Computers for Bible Translation-Lutheran Bible Translators, Yearning Youth Yonder at LVR, Opening a New Outreach Center Denver, CO-Lutheran Blind Mission, Lifting Up Human Care/Parish Nurse Programs, Immanuel, Loveland, CO, and Orphan Grain Train Colorado West Division are sharing the Gospel message of our kind, wise heavenly Friend so that those who hear will through the power of the Holy Spirit also believe in Jesus as their Savior.

He lives and grants me daily breath;

He lives and I shall conquer death;

He lives my mansion to prepare;

He lives to bring me safely there.

He lives all glory to His name!

He lives my Jesus still the same.

Oh, the sweet joy this sentence gives,

“I know that my Redeemer lives!”

“I know that my Redeemer lives” is the joyous and exciting statement that concludes this hymn.  How important it is that when our life is over, we know that our Redeemer lives, has prepared a place for us with Him for eternity, and will personally take us to live with Him forever there!  We always need helpers to share the Good News that “our Redeemer lives.”  Our prayers and mites have enabled Project: Southern Africa Fund – RMD – LCMS, Training Pastors, Kyrgyzstan, and Ghana Seminary to help prepare men who are willing and wanting to spread this Good News with the people of their country.   Sadly not everyone who hears the Good News of Salvation believes that Jesus is THE Redeemer.  As Christians we want everyone to go to Heaven, and we thank the Lord whenever we have an opportunity to share our faith with others.  We especially thank God for workers willing to spend their lives teaching others that Jesus, the Redeemer of all people, LIVES for all people everywhere.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for Your many blessings to us.  Continue to use our mite gifts and prayers to provide us opportunities to share in bringing Your Word to the world that all men might be saved.

In Jesus’ name we pray.

Amen.

Close with the Lord’s Prayer.
